CONWAY — On Jan. 14, state Rep. David Paige (D-Conway) invited leading housing advocate state Sen. Rebecca Perkins Kwoka (D-Portsmouth) to join him for a tour with Bluebird Project developer/Conway Planning Board/Conway Charter Commission member Eliza Grant of the 19th-century Bunker Building on Pine Street in North Conway.
The building is to be renovated into eight apartments (it currently has one rented apartment).
Grant led everyone up to the third floor, where in the bare bones of the building, one could see some of the original logs used along with timbers when the 1830s home was enlarged in 1850 for use as a hotel.
It had once been the North Conway House, which first stood on Main Street before being moved in 1900. The North Conway Library (now Pope Memorial Library) was built on the site in 1911.
